Double Driver is a driver backup application for Windows. This is the first free application of the kind that I have found. Basically, Double Driver scans your computer and lists all the hardware devices that are installed, then it retrieves the driver information for each one of them and lists those, too. When you want to save a particular driver, you simply select it and save it to a particular location. Every driver has a check box to its left, which you can use to select more than one driver at the time. Also, you are given the option of backing up all the drivers on your computer at once, which is a good idea, since you never know when something can go wrong with Windows.
Double Driver has a restore function as well. You simply need to point the application to the folder where you saved the drivers and it will initiate a driver installation wizard. I particularly like the fact that every driver has a version number, a release date and a manufacturer ID, which should make it easy for you to identify what device each driver corresponds to. The fact that this is a freeware application and that it allows you to build a portable app makes it a whole lot better.
